PLANNING | MOODBOARDS

Everyone plans things differently. Us? We love moodboards.

We believe that moodboards are important for your own personal use and if you're planning for a client. Why? It gives you an idea of your overall vision. Pictures speak a thousand words. Pictures speak what words can't. We quickly whipped up these ones as examples for this post.

If you're planning a party or event just for yourself and are unsure of what theme or look you're going for. Hit up Pinterest and find a handful of pictures that you love the look of, pictures that make your heart flutter. Once you've compiled images that you like - look for the similar elements in each picture. There is often times where I will pin a bunch of pictures that are quite similar without even realising it. Find the common theme, maybe all of them have gold accents, or all of them have very natural tablescapes. Find that element.

If you're planning a party or event for a client, moodboards are pretty much a must have. If I've learnt anything from studying Interior Design - it's that clients need to be shown images. They can look at drawings and diagrams, but are often not able see the amazing, final vision that we've got in our heads. They need to see pictures and pretty things. Clients need to be able to see what you're thinking. Moodboards.

If you ever go off course as you're planning, refer back to your moodboards to get you back on track or find your inspiration again. The best part is - you don't have to be creative to make a moodboard! Pinterest is a great digital tool and has millions of beautiful pictures to help plan your party. If you want to get hands on, print out your favourites, cut things from magazines. Anything that inspires you. It doesn't have to be related to party planning at all, if a photograph of a puppy inspires you - then put it on your moodboard!

Happy planning!
